Wow- this is choice-utopia! it is like the old trips we used to take to the video store, where we could not decide on just one movie...
SPOILER ALERT- you don't have to pick just one cart!!! the 4 of us ate at 3 different carts!
Driving an electric car myself, I found great pleasure is seeing this re-purposed gas station! yes, this was a goober-style gas station from the 50's. They have done a wonderful job of using the island and the inside bays for covered eating area's. even complete with bathrooms!
This is now our go-to spot when seeing shows at the nearby Curious Comedy, great choices and covered seating, even has heaters!!! -

Standout food cart pod in a city overflowing with them! Not that I'm complaining, I love the availability of quality ethnic and American cuisines at good prices all overthe Portland area.
Typically if I am in the NE Killingsworth area, I head to Tijuana Oaxacan for street tacos, my absolute favorite cart located in the Killingsworth Food Pod by Interstate. Last night a friend wanted to meet at Piedmont and I was thrilled to discover a food pod with so much to offer!
What really sets Piedmont apart is the availability of large seating / picnic areas indoors and out, with benches and small tables and chairs available at some individual carts. There is a large indoor space with tables, toys, TV, video games and a play area for kids making this pod a great destination for families.
The dozen or so carts offer a variety of cuisines; each cart decorated in their own personality. There is also a huge white and orange cat known as the Pod Cat, of course!
Cuisines include BBQ, Japanese, Mediterranean, Thai, Coffee, Hawaiian, American comfort food, Filipino, tacos, falafels, pike and a beer cart! Halibuts even has a cart here, extending their brand from their brick & mortar on NE Alberta.
We both got the kabob dinners from Bella's Cravings and we loved it! Marinated chicken, flavorful and tender, served over rice with a huge salad dressed in a lemony vinaigrette adding a brightness that balanced perfectly with the chicken. It was fresh, healthy and crave-worthy!
Will definitely be coming back to Piedmont to try other options and for the excellent kabobs at Bella's. -

There are many pods, but this one was not in my usual orbit. But I finally had an opportunity to stop in.
The curation of carts is excellent. The seating areas are varied without being forced. One of the seating areas has small picnic tables for children. There are covered spaces to eat. There is even a completely enclosed building.
They have some sports screens, but they don't dominate the space.
What I like are the decorations of each cart and the area around it. Hallibuts went wild with their sea theme. The beer cart is packed with bric a brac. Best, it reminds me of the early 90's on Alberta and their wabi-sabi reuse aesthetic!
The beer cart operator is the brother of the individual that built, decorated and operates the space if you have questions.
It wasn't crowded when I was there, all the cart operators were customer oriented.
I'm looking forward to more visits! -

Great food cart site! I walked by all the vendors and I should say they were all very appealing. This area also looks more decorated and with better accommodation facilities for customers to eat at. There are covered cabins with space heaters (winter rush hour time) for you to comfortably sit down and eat your freshly made food. I really liked the vibe there. Many cuisines you choose from, sushi burritos, Persian grills, Thai, Chinese, grilled cheese melt... I am pretty confident whoever goes here would find something to like.

Piedmont Station is one of the better "upscale" food truck parks with nice wooden pavilions for covered eating spaces. Numerous high quality food trucks populate this truck depot. Food trucks are all the rage in Portland and the food truck parks are upscaling themselves to create a more park-like picnic ambiance to distinguish themselves. Piedmont Station succeeds in this.
I'm amused by the numerous 5-star gushing that food trucks are showered with, as if they were Michelin rated restaurants. Piedmont Station is one of the better food truck depots, yet I debated between 3 and 4 stars. I heard several customers at various food trucks being told that their orders wouldn't be complete because the kitchen had run out of certain items. The food tends to be quite good, but you're still walking up to a counter to order and eating at an outdoor picnic table (and bussing your own table - not sure why they have a tip space on the receipt).
There are many many Portland area restaurants that will rightfully argue that the food you are getting here is NOT the "best in the area". It IS very good, but by no means the best.
